Recruitment & Vetting

Recruiting quality staff and retaining them has always been a challenge within the security industry. We take great care in recruiting our Security Officers and our clients are welcome to confirm our selection. The calibre of our Security Officers is crucial to the quality of our service.

Following British Standards, it requires that our recruitment and vetting procedures are subjected to regular and detailed inspection and conform fully to:

At Crown Security we feel that if a potential employee is made to feel part of the team from the start and is treated with respect, then they will give 100% to the company and in turn the company will give them 100% commitment back, which is part of our obligation to investors in people. Employment History

All employees are to produce a checkable work history covering employment and all periods of unemployment for a period covering atleast 5 years. All potential employees undergo 5-year telephone vetting, with the supporting facsimile confirmation prior to employment. On completion of the telephone vetting confirmation, a consumer credit reference check is carried out before an initial offer of employment is made and the 5-year vetting process is commenced. The screening process also includes authenticity checks of all documents to prevent against identity theft.

The guidelines laid down in the standard BS7858 state that we have 12 weeks to vet the employee fully. They also state that this is the probation period; Crown Security Services has a fully computerised system called Vetting Manager which identifies any employee that is approaching the critical 12 week stage and will send out reminder letters to both them and previous employer. If then the 12th week is reached and the employee is still not vetted they will remain in their probationary period and are invited to Head Office and interviewed by the personnel department, where other documents may be requested such as:

  • A completed Data Protection-Police printout
  • A full National Insurance printout

Our strict internal policy and the policies laid down by BS7858 ensure that these procedures are carried out which ensures that our client's security is not compromised from within.
